Sisters and Rebels won the 2020 Summersell Prize for the best book on the history of the American South, awarded by the Frances S. Summersell Center for the Study of the South at the University of Alabama.

Sisters and Rebels won a 2020 Prose Awards  for “outstanding work by a trade publisher” from the Association of American Publishers.
